I did enjoy Julie's optimism and social drive very similar to that of John's. My father passed away when I was in college, a busy time. I want to encourage you to take time to mourn well, to reflect on your mother and wife and friend accurately so that you would establish and then cherish deeply your memories of her. Auden's poem seems to touch on the depth of sorrow that is being felt. Emma's poem is full of hope. And Brooke's poem points out the great legacy that is left behind. The best way I believe I can offer encouragement to your hope and your legacy is to offer you the good news of Jesus. Here in the 14th chapter of the book of John Jesus himself offers comfort to his disciples who are upset by his impending death. He says: 14 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[Bible Gateway passage: John 14 - English Standard Version] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”[c] 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.[d] From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
